  • Meeting with LJMU

    A meeting between Liverpool John Moores University and Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences was held on 4th May 2017 in Kathmandu. 
    Honorable Minister for Education Mr. Dhaniram Poudel, as a chief guest, Mr. Rajendra Prasad Pandey; Member of Parliament, Dr. Bansidhar Mishra; Member of Parliament, Mr. Jiwan Prakash Sharma, Dr. Sujan Babu Marhattha, Dr.Dharma Prasad Khanal, Prof. Beenu Bista, Durga Mishra and Puspa Raj Khanal from MMIHS and Dr. Edward John Harcourt, Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Laura Bishop, Dean Faculty of Sceience, Prof.Padam Simkhada, Dr.Bibha Simkhada from of Liverpool John Moores University attended the meeting.
    The main objective of the meeting was to discuss on the possible areas of collaboration in academia and research between Liverpool John Moores University and MMIHS. The meeting discussed on the ongoing collaborative research projects with Nepalese institutions and how to bring innovation and technologies from UK Universities to Nepal to strengthen quality education and to produce competitive human resources

    Best Achievement Award

    On the occasion of 38th National Education Day 2074 and International Literacy Day, Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences, Solteemode (run by Nepal  Health Care Co-Limited) was awarded with the Best Achievement Award among the affiliated Colleges of CTEVT (Council of Technical Education and vocational Training, Sanothimi). Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education Mr. Gopal Man Shrestha distributed the certificate and cash prize to the college. On the behalf of the college, Certificate and prize was received by Jiwan Prakash Sharma, Vice Chairman of the Institution.

    Thanks to the Ministry of Education for providing this Excellence Award and all the concerned NEHCO-NEPAL, Management Committee, Faculties, Staff, Students and National and International Well Wishers for their contribution to bring the institution to this height

  • Talk Program by Prof.Dr.Geeta Pfau

    A Talk Program on " Educational Opportunities and Challenges for International Nurses in USA" was organized today. Prof.Dr. Geeta Pfau was the key note speaker of the program. She Stated about the challenges and opportunities of the nurses in Nepal, USA, Philippines, Africa and so on. She said that In 2016 the number of registered nurses in US was 2.86 million.
    She shared her 40 year experiences of about the concerned field from the practical aspect. She also made a slide presentation with the current position of nursing of the world with data's   .The nursing faculties & Students of BSC NSG, BNS, & MN were  the Participation of the program. Prof. Bishnu Bhattarai Campus Chief Welcomed the Keynote Speaker, guests and Participations.Prof Dr Sujan Babu Marahatta, Asst campuschief made a presentation about the college.
    The Program ended with closing remarks  of the vice chairman Jiwan Prakash Sharma. He presented the Token of Love to the Keynote Speaker. The Program remained  very fruitful & Practical.


    Three day WORKSHOP TO DEVELOP LEARNING HANDBOOK  FOR MASTER IN PUBLIC HEALTH COURSE took place at MMIHS to enhance the learning process of  Masters in public health studies in Nepal. 

    The workshop was inaugurated by the Chair of University Grants Commission Prof Dr Bhim P Subedee. Inagurating the program he thanked MMIHS for conducting the workshop on the very relevant topics. He is very eager to support the future endevours of MMIHS in developing teaching learning activites. 


    Prof Mandira Onta, The Assistant dean of IOM highlighted the relevance of the workshop to strengthen MPH studies in Nepal. Honorable Rajendra P Pande Chair of Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences assured that MMIHS is eager to work closely with UGC to strengthen academic activites in the field of health sciences. 


    Prof Bishnu Bhattrai highlighted the importance of the workshop. Prof Dr Sujan Marahatta, the coordinator of the workshop explained the objectives of the workshop  and the expected outcome as well. He expressed that all the participants will participate actively to make the workshop success.


    The subject experts, faculties, Chair of Nepal Public Health Association including twenty participants were present in the workshop. 

  • Management Training

    A Training on " How to lead the 21st Century Educational Leadership ?" was held today in MMIHS on 2nd June 2019 . There were 19 participants from the Head office NEHCO Nepal, Manmohan Memorial Teaching Hospital Swayambhu , Manmohan Memorial Community Hospital and Manmohan Memorial institute of Health Sciences soalteemode, Mrs Sankalita Samaddav and. Mr. Saurav Lohani trained participants in a more practical , exciting & motivating way . Mr. Rajendra Prasad Pandey chairperson of Nehco Nepal thanked the trainers for their presentation & the organizer for the organizing such a wonderful training. The session was chaired & wrapped up by Dr. Banshidhar Mishra. The training remained more fruitful, effective & result oriented.

  • PG Orientation Program-2076


    A PG Orientation Program was organized today in MMIHS. Prof. Dr. Sarad Onta, Former Asst. Dean of IOM, TU and Expert of Public Health as a Chief Guest Orientated the newly admitted students in a more practical and realistic way. He spoke about the teaching learning trends and thanked the students for their right choice to study PG in MMIHS.

    Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Chair of the college stated his own experiences and gave a few tips to be a good teacher and student.

    Jiwan Prakash Sharma, Vice Chair welcomed all the new students and wished for having nice days ahead in the college to meet their expectation. A video message from Dr.Faith Boucher, Visiting Professor , University of California was delivered in the Program.

    Representative of Central department of Public Health Susanman Shrestha spoke about the relation between MMIHS and Central Department.

    Prof. Dr. Sujan Babu Marahatta, Asst. Campus Chief Presented a few slides about the college & the history of Public Health and developing trends in education. A documentary of the college was shown in the program.

    Ms. Neha Dev, representative of the students expressed a few words about the reasons to choose MMIHS. The program was chaired by Prof. Bishnu Bhattarai, Campus Chief and conducted by Durga Mishra, HoD of Public Health.

    An interaction program between college & neighborhood was held today . The program was organized to tie up & strengthen the relation with the neighboring people . Dhurba Narayan Manandhar , chairman of ward 13 , thanked the college for organizing such beautiful program & wanted to work together in the days to come.   • MOU signed between (BU) UK and MMIHS

    MEMORANDUM OF Agreement was signed between Bournemouth University (BU) UK and MMIHS to develop partnership with focus on the exchange and transfer of ideas, knowledge, skills and training. 
    On the behalf of BU Professor John Vinney, the vice-chancellor and Honorable Rajendra P Pande the Chairman of MMIHS signed the letter of agreement.

  • Workshop on Mixed Method

    A one day workshop on "Mixed Method" was jointly organized today by MMIHS & Bournemouth University. The Participants (faculty and post graduate study) from IOM Medicine, Nepal Army Institute of Health Sciences & Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences took part in the workshop. Prof. Edwin, Prof. Dr. Sujan Babu Marahatta, Dr. Bibha & Dr. Shanti facilitated the workshop.
    The program was concluded with the closing remarks of Vice Chairman Mr. Jiwan Prakash Sharma & certificates were distributed to the participants.

  • webinar onPsycho social Counseling

    MMIHS organized a webinar onPsycho social Counseling to the students of PCL (CTEVT program) on2077/04/13. Karuna Kunwar, a psychologist, oriented the students in a more organized way . She presented about 12 tips to the students on how to manage the time during such pandemic period. About 210 students & teachers were present in the webinar. Bishnu Bhattarai, campuschief, welcomed all the participants & asked the students to bring the learnt ideas from the webinar into real life situation. Jiwan Prakash Sharma, Vice Chairman, thanked the counselor for her presentation & suggested the students to follow her tips & to spend the time with the family members in a more happy & healthy environment. The program was moderated by DURGA Mishra, HOD of Public Health.

    An Orientation Program was organized today in MMIHS for the newly admitted students of CTEVT Programs PCL Nursing, PCL Radiography, General Medicine, D. Pharmacy, CMLT. On the occasion, Rajendra Prasad Pande , Chairman of the college welcomed the students and spoke on the value of life & described the history of the organization . Jiwan Prakash Sharma, Vice Chairman welcomed all the new students and oriented them explaining the nature of the programs and suggested them to work hard for the betterment and to fullfill the dream of their life.     An awareness program on Dengue was organized today in mmihs to the newly admitted students of CTEVT. Dr Dipak Sharma , consultant of Manmoham medical college, Swoyambhu presented a few slides about the history, symptoms & remedies of Dengue.     Wrap up meeting regarding the ongoing collaboration between MMIHS & University of California Davis was held on September 18 ,2019.
    The Participants of meeting were Jiwan Prakash Sharma Vice-Chairman MMIHS, Prof. Bishnu Bhattarai Campus Chief & Prof. Sujan Babu Marahatta and Dr. Faith Boucher & Prof. Stephen Mc Curdy from University of California Davis.
    The meeting decided to continue the ongoing collaboration. The Plan of action of upcoming year was discussed. The meeting decided to continue faculty / students exchanges between two institutions and run short term capacity building courses for MMIHS faculty in April 2020

  • First Aid Training

    First Aid Training with the Cooperation of PHYSICIAN FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, NEPAL (PSRN) and management of Manmohan memorial Institute of health Sciences in association with NPSS (Nepal Pharmacy Student Society) MMIHS branch.
    An intensive one day (8 hours) FIRST AID training was organized in Manmohan memorial Institute of Health Sciences for one hundred Bachelor of Pharmacy students with the coordination of head of the pharmacy department Dr. Dharma Prasad Khanal and 15 membered PSRN team on 2076/5/12 (8/29/2019).

    After the completion of the training Vice Chairman Mr. Jiwan Prakash Sharma and Campus chief Bishnu Bhattarai distribute the certificate of appreciation to all trainers. Training coordinator, Dr. Dharma Prasad Khanal, Vice Chairman and campus chief thanks all the trainers for their contribution and team work to impart the First Aid skill to the undergraduate students.

    A 9 Day TRAINING OF SOFTWARE APPLICATION FOR DATA MANAGEMENT was concluded today in MMIHS. The Faculties , students of MN, MPH participated in the traning program . Prof. Edwin Van Teijlingen, Kishwor Khanal , Sudip Pokhrel, Dr. Yadav Joshi, Dr. Shankar Khanal, Paras Khanal , Shristi Gauli trained the participants on different topics . Assistant Campus Chief Pro. Dr Sujan Babu marahatta coordinated the program in a more effective way . He thanked all the participants and the trainers for their active involvement and initiation to make the program more productive. . On the closing ceremony , Mr. Jiwan Prakash sharma , Vice chairman distributed the certificates to the participants and trained all the trainers for their contribution . He stressed the need of such programs to meet the academic objectives of the institution

  • Free Health Camp and Blood Donation Program

    Free Health Camp & blood donation program was held today in MMIHS . The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Chairman of the college . He thanked the campus team for organizing such a beautiful program which could link the local people with Manmohan memorial medical college swayambhu & the college . Mr. Jiwan Prakash sharma, Vicechair person welcomed all the participants and requested to take advantage of the free health camp . 40 person donated the blood and 50 blood Sample has been investigated for sugar including fasting, pp, random condition . 150 local people were benefited from free health camp . The program was chaired by campus Chief Prof. Bishnu Bhattarai. Dr. Sarita Aacharya , Dr. Ashok Shrestha, Dr Min Budhatoki examined the patients in the camp.

    The recent meeting was held to pave the pathway to strengthen ties between two institutions.
    The meeting discussed on the key priority areas of cooperation between Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences and Qiqihar Medical University. The following areas were identified.
    1. Joint research: Qiqihar Medical University has shown keen interest to conduct research on looking at the risk factors associated with the altitude on cerebral hamerrohage, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. Qiqihar Medical University is eager to conduct the joint research on the trekkers in Nepal to do the analysis of hematological parameters and the gene analysis to understand the risk factors. Likewise there is the possibility to link the research with the Belt and road initiative with the Chinese government. It was agreed to explore other research areas of joint interest too.

  • CDC 1st meeting

    ✓ The General meeting of the Campus Development Council of Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences was held today at MMIHS building Soaltemode. Majority members of the Council were present in the general meeting. During the program the Vice Chair of MMIHS Management Committee Mr Jiwan Prakash Sharma welcomed the respected members of the Campus Development Council. Addressing the meeting, he mentioned that the objectives of the program was to discuss on the existing status of the college and pave pathway to develop the Campus as a deemed university. He explained the achievement of the college and the existing challenges that need to be overcomed in days to come. The chair of MMIHS management committee and chair of Campus Development Council Honorable Rajendra Prasad Pandey explained the endevours of the institution to offer quality health sciences education in Nepal.Prof Dr Sujan B Marahatta, assistant Campus Chief of MMIHS delivered the presentation about the Institute and explained the ongoing academic activities of the institution. He explained in detail regarding the ongoing academic, research and academic/extension services being carried out by the institution. He explained the strengths and the challenges of the Institute and the future strategies.The floor was opened for discussions. The members of the council expressed their opinions to develop the institution as the Centre of Excellence and pave pathway to establish it as a deemed university with multidisciplinary focus. The meeting decided to continue further discussions and seek appropriate model to develop ir as an innovative institution ◦ The meeting also decided to continue the linkage with University Grants Commission and pave pathway to establish itself as community based non profit making institution with focus on quality education . Prof Bishnu Bhattrai the Campus Chief of Institute thanked all the respected council members for their valuable ideas to develop institute in the changing context.

  • The collaborative meeting between MMIHS and Unh

    The collaborative meeting between MMIHS and the University of New Hampshire was held at MMIHS on 2 Jan 2020. During the program Prof Bishnu Bhattrai Campus Chief of MMIHS welcomed all the delegates from UNH and expressed that this meeting will open avenues for future collaboration between MMIHS and UNH. Prof Sujan B Marahatta, Assistant Campus Chief presented about the ongoing academic, research and services being run at MMIHS. The presentation offered exposure to the delegates and make them understand in detail about the ongoing activities of MMIHS to open avenues for future collaboration. Prof Beenu Bista delivered the presentation about the nursing programs at MMIHS. Prof Geeta Pfau explained the background of the collaborative endevours and her idea of future collaboration. Prof Gene Elizabeth Harkless chair of Nursing Department UNH expressed that UNH has interest to expose the student in global health areas. She explained about the nursing programs being run at UNH.
    The possible collaboration is students and faculty exchanges between the institutions. She expressed that we need to seek resources to support the Faculties and students. She highlighted that UNH has vision to aspire philosophy of Global citizen concept and expressed that global health program is guided by this concept. The challenges is how to practice nursing professional independently.
    Nursing students from UNH inquired about the nursing programs
    The vice chair of MMIHS Jiwan P Sharma thanked all the delegates for visiting MMIHS. He expressed that this meeting will be historical to open avenues of collaboration between MMIHS and UNH.


    As per the regular scheduled program, the health camp and diabetes screening camp was organized in the premise of MMIHS on 3 Magh 2076.

    The program was conducted for the promotion of the health of the local community, students, staffs and the guardians of the MMIHS students.

    The program was inaugurated by the Assistant Campus Chief Prof Dr.Sujan B Marahatta. Fifteen patients were benefited from the health camp and diabetes screening camp. The medical officer from Manmohan Memorial Teaching Hospital Dr Chrinjivi Thapa provided services to the patients and Dr Anit Lamichhane provided services for the diabetes screening camp. Dr Mahendra Bhat, the head of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and the coordinator of extension services at MMIHS coordinated the camp.

    Postdoctoral Fellows at MMIHS are within 5 years of graduation with a PhD degree. The position provides the opportunity to expand the career of PDF beyond the academic research environment to engage policy application, translation, and dissemination. The position is in the field of Health Services Research.

    The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers working on a project funded by the Health Systems Research Initiative entitled ‘The impact of federalisation on Nepal's health system: a longitudinal analysis’. This project will track, in real time, the massive health system reform process underway in Nepal as a result of the implementation of its new Constitution, in particular the shift to a Federal government system. Working in eight communities as well as Provincial capitals and Kathmandu, the proposed project will utilize Participatory Policy Analysis backed by more traditional forms of qualitative and quantitative data to track the perceptions of health systems stakeholders at all levels as the reform process unfolds. Taking a holistic approach to the health system, the project will examine all of the WHO's health system building blocks as well as investigating the complex relationships between them.

    The position offers an excellent multicultural environment for interaction with scholars from different countries and diverse academic backgrounds (including political scientists, sociologists, health economists and health systems experts). To that end, we are looking for post-doctoral researchers who will work with Professor of MMIHS, partner institutions and relevant stakeholders to advance our agenda. The position is open to candidates who demonstrate that they can contribute to the ongoing research, policy translation, and capacity building projects in the Institute.

      • applicants must be within 5 years of completion of a PhD in public health or a discipline of relevance to issues around health policy and/or health systems.

  • Webinar on COVID 19 pandemic & challenges & pathway forward:

    Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences, Soalteemode organized a webinar on COVID 19 Pandemic & Challenges & Pathway Forward . The program was focused on the impact on Health & Education caused by corona virus in the context of Nepal & to learn international practices to face such challenges. The program also discussed what Nepal could learn from international community & what would be the path way to move forward. The panelists of the webinar were Prof .Sarad Onta , Prof Bidhyanath Koirala, Dr Pushpa Raman Wagle, Prof Edwin , Prof Padam Simkhada,Prof Om Kurmi, Prof Simon Rushton & Joint Secreatary Deepak Sharma. The webinar discussed on various issues as government s Health policy during lockdown & the strategic problems . It was realized that there was lack of coordination among central , provincial & local governments to face the challenges caused by pandemic. It was also found that the concerned ministry has not found out the pathway to solve the educational problems in the existing situation. The ministry has still taken the watch and wait strategies. It was discussed that the time has brought us in the world of digitalization which could be used in our academic & other business activities . It was also suggested that the government should allocate its resources to upgrade the electronic & network system. The webinar also discussed that the time has come to learn how to live with corona virus & to regularize the normal activities as earlier following the guidelines of WHO. It was also discussed that the time has taught us to be transformed to cope with the challenges. The panelists also suggested to use alternative modalities or all the possible online & offline means of communication in the academia . The panelists also discussed that there seemed confusion in role& responsibility within the government in policy level on how to face such challenges. It was observed that there was no adequate preparation to cope with the challenges in spite of having enough time . The panelists suggested not to establish the new university from individuals pocket without any justification & mapping . The panelists also described the importance of technical & vocational education in post COVID. The manpower returned from outside the country should be used in the development of the country by giving them short term vocational trainings . The program was moderated by Prof Sujanbabu Marahatta . Jiwan prakash Sharma, Vice chairman ,welcomed all the panelists & participants.
