Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences, Soalteemode organized a webinar on COVID 19 Pandemic & Challenges & Pathway Forward . The program was focused on the impact on Health & Education caused by corona virus in the context of Nepal & to learn international practices to face such challenges. The program also discussed what Nepal could learn from international community & what would be the path way to move forward. The panelists of the webinar were Prof .Sarad Onta , Prof Bidhyanath Koirala, Dr Pushpa Raman Wagle, Prof Edwin , Prof Padam Simkhada,Prof Om Kurmi, Prof Simon Rushton & Joint Secreatary Deepak Sharma. The webinar discussed on various issues as government s Health policy during lockdown & the strategic problems . It was realized that there was lack of coordination among central , provincial & local governments to face the challenges caused by pandemic. It was also found that the concerned ministry has not found out the pathway to solve the educational problems in the existing situation. The ministry has still taken the watch and wait strategies. It was discussed that the time has brought us in the world of digitalization which could be used in our academic & other business activities . It was also suggested that the government should allocate its resources to upgrade the electronic & network system. The webinar also discussed that the time has come to learn how to live with corona virus & to regularize the normal activities as earlier following the guidelines of WHO. It was also discussed that the time has taught us to be transformed to cope with the challenges. The panelists also suggested to use alternative modalities or all the possible online & offline means of communication in the academia . The panelists also discussed that there seemed confusion in role& responsibility within the government in policy level on how to face such challenges. It was observed that there was no adequate preparation to cope with the challenges in spite of having enough time . The panelists suggested not to establish the new university from individuals pocket without any justification & mapping . The panelists also described the importance of technical & vocational education in post COVID. The manpower returned from outside the country should be used in the development of the country by giving them short term vocational trainings . The program was moderated by Prof Sujanbabu Marahatta . Jiwan prakash Sharma, Vice chairman ,welcomed all the panelists & participants.
